Blythedale Children’s Hospital is a longtime leader in the treatment of children recovering from brain injury including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), post-infectious diseases such as meningitis or Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis (ANMDAR), brain tumors and stroke. The extraordinary multidisciplinary Brain Injury Treatment Program addresses every aspect of a child’s recovery.
Brain injury treatment and recovery at Blythedale takes on a special prominence with our dedicated 18-bed TBI Unit – the only dedicated post-acute Pediatric Brain Injury Unit in New York State. Each patient room is sound and light controlled and designed to provide the low-stimulation environment needed by patients recovering from brain injury.
Blythedale’s unique expertise comes from the knowledge, skill and teamwork of pediatricians, neurologists, physiatrists, neuropsychologists, cognitive rehabilitation therapists, rehabilitation nurses and neuroscientists all working together to customize an evidence-based treatment plan tailored to each child’s specific needs.

Blythedale Launches New TBI Program
The diagnosis is the #1 cause of disability and death among children in the United States. And, with medical uncertainty surrounding outcomes for many TBI patients, their futures are depend on understanding how the brain reacts to trauma and the subsequent therapies.
