Blythedale is the only specialty children’s hospital in New York State with the capability of providing the highest level of medical care and rehabilitation for children recovering from complex medical conditions, including childhood cancers.
A customized therapeutic regimen enables patients to regain their strength and function while undergoing or recovering from surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. We recognize the vital importance of an ongoing relationship with the child’s referring oncology team, and we participate in regular phone conferences to assess progress.
State-of-the-art medical technology and monitoring equipment combined with rigorous infection control protocols enable us to care for children even while they are receiving chemotherapy. If needed, single rooms are available for children who are immunocompromised.
Cancer Rehabilitation Team
A team of pediatricians, physiatrists, psychologists, nutritionists, rehabilitation nurses, and the largest hospital-based department of pediatric therapists in the New York State, comprise the interdisciplinary team essential to meet the complex needs of children who are being treated for cancer. Blythedale’s pharmacy, staffed by board certified Pediatric Clinical Pharmacists, compounds therapeutic agents and prepares IV infusions on site.
