Thank you for thinking of Blythedale for donations of items that provide entertainment and comfort to our young patients. As you can imagine, keeping our medically complex patients well is our utmost priority. Please note that in-person gifts are not being accepted this year. As we are in the midst of many renovations to the Hospital, we do not have the storage space for items that are used throughout the year. We hope to accept in-person gifts in the future, and we thank you for your patience as we make improvements to better serve our patients.  With that in mind, we have the following giving opportunities:

Our Wish List Registry is available!
This is great for those who may not live in the area, or for those who prefer to purchase items that can be sent directly to Blythedale. The items on the list fulfill the holiday wishes of our patients, which ultimately help them heal. We encourage donors to give early or on/before December 15th so that we can be prepared for the variety of holidays that our patients celebrate. Click here to visit our Wish List Registry.

Consider giving gift cards… or have a Gift Card Drive! Gift cards allow us to easily buy items for our patients during the year, whether they’re birthday gifts or therapy items. If you are interested in having a Gift Card Drive, please contact Liz DeCecco.

In addition to exploring the items on the registry, we invite you to consider making a monetary donation to our Holiday Wish List Fund. Your generosity would help fund immediately needed items, as well as experiences for our patients to enjoy throughout the year. Click here to make a financial donation to our Holiday Wish List Fund.

Want to give a very impactful in-kind gift? Please consider holding a drive to collect items for our families in the community. We are a safety net hospital, which means that we do not turn away families who cannot pay, and about 75% of our families are dependent on Medicaid. Click here to see our most needed items, and feel free to focus on one section! We can use these items throughout the year, so no need to rush to drop them off by a certain date.

Making a gift to help medically fragile children is a fitting way to honor milestone celebrations of family members, friends or colleagues (birthdays, mitzvah celebrations, marriages and graduations), or to honor the memory of the deceased. In making a tribute or memorial gift, please download our Donation Form and submit it with your gift. When making gifts of this kind, please let us know your full name, address and phone number, and indicate the name of the person being honored or memorialized, and the name and address of the person or family who should receive the acknowledgement letter. We will send an informing letter to the individual or family you have designated, informing them that you have made a contribution in honor of or in memory of a loved one. We do not include gift amount information in the informing letter.

By taking advantage of your employer’s matching gift program, you may double or even triple the amount of your charitable contribution to Blythedale. Many employers will match their employee’s contributions to non-profit organizations. If your company has such a policy, please submit your request or form at the time of your donation. Blythedale will receive notification and take the necessary steps to verify your gift.

Recurring gifts can be set up (and canceled) at any time. To make a recurring credit card donation to Blythedale Children’s Hospital by phone, please call: (914) 831-2547.

Philanthropy from private foundations and corporations are vital to Blythedale’s abilty to provide much-needed services to our patients and their families. Partnerships between Blythedale and private/corporate foundations are a true win-win situation: grant funding supports programs that ensure all children receive the treatment and clinical service enhancements that maximize their chances for positive long-term outcomes, while our philanthropic partners also achieve their goals of helping Blythedale patients as well as the broader community.

Blythedale welcomes support from private and corporate foundations for all of our essential services – including, but not limited to, our Social Work and Child Life programs, our Early Childhood Center, post-discharge Care Management, and more. Blythedale also collaborates with the Burke Medical Research Institute to conduct research on improved treatment for children with neurological impairments at Blythedale Children’s Hospital.
Foundation support helps Blythedale to strengthen needy families whose children are our patients, providing targeted assistance and advocacy that prepare them for the many challenges ahead. Foundation and corporate support also contributes to meeting Blythedale’s needs for capital improvements, equipment, and endowment that by extension will allow us to meet the needs of medically complex children in the decades to come.

A way to say, "thank you."

At Blythedale Children’s Hospital we are fortunate to have a caring staff of more than 250 individuals who work with our patients and their families every day. We are often asked by our families, "How can I express my gratitude to the employees who have made a difference for my child while being treated at Blythedale?”

One way to express your gratitude is to honor and recognize the caregivers who have made a difference for your child through our Grateful Family Program. This program allows grateful families and friends the opportunity to support patient services and programs at Blythedale Children’s Hospital, while recognizing the exemplary care received from a staff member at Blythedale.

Perhaps the caregiver was:

  • An outstanding physician
  • An extraordinary nurse
  • A supportive therapist
  • A caring volunteer
  • An attentive food service aid
  • A cheerful housekeeper
  • A helpful social worker

Words of gratitude from some of our families...

"Only those at Blythedale who lived minute to minute with us, who took this child who literally couldn’t do anything and made her whole, who started as strangers and became a life-long part of our extended family, truly know how grateful we are to have our daughter back."

"Our therapist cared for our son like he was her own child. Her dedication and compassion were unparalleled.”

"Simply put, my medical team gave me back my life.”

Hearing the words "thank you" is priceless to your physician, nurses, therapists and other healthcare professionals. We hope you take this opportunity to share your story about the Blythedale caregiver who meant so much to you and your child!
