After completion of the online application – if selected, prospective RT resident will receive an invitation to attend a half-day interview process.

  • Interviews will take place in-person at Blythedale Children’s Hospital
  • If hired, a post-offer medical clearance and on-boarding paperwork will be sent via e-mail and must be completed before the residency start date.

One-to-One Preceptor Training, 75% of program – Our RT residents will spend most of the program time receiving one-to-one precepted training in the clinical setting. Our preceptors are experienced bedside RTs who are specially trained to provide clinical guidance to the resident.

Clinical Simulation & Didactic Learning, 25% of program – Our RT residents will spend time in the classroom and simulation lab. These sessions are taught by our experienced RTs, subject matter experts, and clinical specialists. Educational sessions give the residents the tools necessary to make the transition from new graduate to competent and confident RT.

Professional Mentorship – A mentor is there to help guide the resident in their career development and provide them with the tools needed for them to grow professionally and clinically.

Real-time Feedback and Supportive Debriefing – RT residents will participate in supportive debriefing and self-care groups throughout the program. Our debriefing sessions are mediated by various members of our multidisciplinary team. In these forums, residents will be able to vent their stresses and share experiences in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Quality and Patient Safety Specialization – in conjunction with our Director of Quality and Patient Safety. One (1) exemplary resident will gain additional training and mentorship. This will allow the RT resident to gain basic competence in healthcare quality and learn how to apply their clinical skills to improve health outcomes.

Timeline for Clinical Practice Success – Patient Load:

Month 1 – 25%

Month 2 to 3 – 50% to 75%

Month 3 to 4 – Full patient load
