It was an egg-cellent morning at Blythedale Children's Hospital.

Westchester County Legislator Virginia Perez, her staff and the Easter bunny stopped by to celebrate the holiday and bring some joy to patients.

Larry Levine, Blythedale’s President and CEO, kicked off the tour in the main lobby with a discussion about the Hospital and its mission of improving the health and quality of life in children with complex medical illnesses and disabling conditions.

Legislator Perez and the Easter bunny then greeted children in the Preschool Developmental Program, part of Blythedale’s Early Childhood Center (ECC), that serves patients in both the Day Hospital Program and The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Long Term Care Pavilion.  Easter goodie bags filled with toys and arts & crafts were distributed to the smiling kids.

Following this cheerful visit, Hospital staff continued the tour with Legislator Perez throughout the inpatient unit, Therapy Village and Mt. Pleasant-Blythedale School.

Legislator Perez, whose District 17 seat represents parts of Yonkers, N.Y., worked with Blythedale to organize the fun-filled activities as a way to give back to those who are unable to participate in community Easter events.

“It was gratifying to see the children forget about their struggles for a moment,” said Perez. “Today I learned that the best patient is a happy patient.”

Levine thanked the Yonkers lawmaker for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit the Hospital and its patients.

“We are grateful to Legislator Perez for bringing her spirit of public service and generosity to Blythedale,” he said. “This visit was a special treat for our children, their families and our staff during this holiday season.”
