BNC Insurance Fall Golf Classic Raises Nearly $270,000

Now in its 27th year, the annual event chaired by Carmine Lippolis, with title sponsor, BNC Insurance, has raised nearly $4 million to benefit Blythedale's patients and their families.

More than 130 golfers attended the Fall Golf Classic on September 22 at Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, NY to benefit Blythedale Children's Hospital. Though the day started with a downpour, the afternoon clouds broke for the sun to shine down as the day went on.

The event dates back to 1996 and has grown significantly since Lippolis took on the role of event chair 18 years ago.

"It's all about the children at Blythedale and making a difference in their lives and their families' lives," he said. "And I'm proud to be a part of that."

Five years ago, Carmine asked his long-time friend, John Cofini, a partner with BNC Insurance, if they'd be interested in being involved.

"When I went back to my partners to ask them what they thought, they were all in," said Cofini. BNC Insurance has been the Title Sponsor of the event since 2018.

Golfers and sponsors helped bring in nearly than $270,000 for the Hospital's unique Day Hospital, which provides multidisciplinary care and education to children who are well enough to live at home, but still require a high level of medical care that isn't otherwise provided in their school or community.

"We are incredibly grateful to Carmine and BNC Insurance, as well as all the other supporters of this important event," said Dr. Scott Klein, M.D., the Hospital's Chief Medical Officer. "Their hearfelt support and enduring commitment has impacted our patients and families beyond measure."

During the evening program, attendees heard from Charlie DeGennaro, a high school senior and basketball player who was admitted to Blythedale in 2020 after developing paralysis as the result of transverse myelitis. His inspirational story of recovery brought the crowd to its feet.
