Blythedale Announces Promotion of John Flanagan, MPA, FACHE to SVP & COO

Blythedale Children’s Hospital is proud to announce that John Flanagan, MPA, FACHE, has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, NY.

Mr. Flanagan, who has more than 25 years of operations experience in the healthcare industry, joined Blythedale Children’s Hospital in 2019. In his new role, he oversees human resources, all rehabilitation therapies including assistive technology, pharmacy, lab and radiology, engineering and maintenance, environmental services, dietary and food services, and security. He also oversees emergency management, regulatory compliance, and space/construction activities. Mr. Flanagan also serves as the Hospital's Chief Compliance Officer. 

Over the last four years, Mr. Flanagan has shepherded Blythedale Children’s Hospital through significant construction as part of a $27 million capital project that includes the opening of the Milton Spahn Therapy Village, a state-of-the-art simulation lab and parent training center, and a new Pharmacy.  

“John is a mission-focused and results-driven member of Blythedale’s leadership team,” said Larry Levine, President and Chief Executive Officer at Blythedale Children’s Hospital. “His oversight of Phase 4 construction during a global pandemic, with minimal interruptions to those projects and patient care, speaks volumes of his skills. He will be an integral part of Blythedale’s next era of growth.”  

Mr. Flanagan holds a Master of Public Administration from NYU-Wagner and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Notre Dame. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
