Benefit for Blythedale Draws Top Performers at WCBS Holiday Spectacular

On Friday, December 14, WCBS-FM's Scott Shannon in the Morning & The Big Show broadcast their final show of the year live from Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, N.Y. The star-studded Holiday Spectacular included live performances by Matchbox 20 lead singer Rob Thomas (back for his 19th consecutive appearance), Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw,  Billy Joel’s longtime saxophonist Mark Rivera, Acapella Group Six13, Tim McLoone & Holiday Express, Santa, and special guest Dr. Elmo who sings the classic “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer!”

Scott Shannon has been a longtime supporter both professionally & personally of Blythedale’s mission and has helped raise more than $4 million through his radio benefits over the past 25 years. The $83,000 raised from this year’s broadcast will support Blythedale's Tiny Miracles Program, which provides care and treatment to the Hospital’s smallest and most fragile babies.

“This is always everyone’s favorite day of the year at Blythedale,” said Blythedale President & CEO Larry Levine. “We are so grateful to Scott Shannon, WCBS-FM and Entercom, as well as all of the artists who give so generously of their time and talents to make the holidays special for the children and their families here at the Hospital.”

This year's rock 'n roll auction had many amazing items up for grabs, including a Bon Jovi autographed guitar, Rob Thomas autographed guitar, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Passes, VIP Tickets for a Billy Joel concert at The Garden, VIP Yankees tickets in Legends Suite, VIP Mets tickets, VIP Giants tickets, VIP Live with Kelly & Ryan tickets, VIP Golf Experience with Scott Shannon & John Bongiovi Sr. (Jon Bon Jovi’s Dad), VIP Dr. Oz tickets with Photo Op, Weird Al Yankovic Tickets with Photo Op and more. If you missed the auction, you can still make a donation in support of the hospital by clicking here or calling (914) 831-2424.
