Doris Rivera-Araujo, MD, is Acting Chief Medical Officer of Blythedale Children’s Hospital and Medical Director of The Steven and Alexandra Cohen Pediatric Long Term Care Pavilion. A board-certified pediatrician with more than 15 years of experience, Dr. Araujo specializes in the care of children with complex medical needs, with particular expertise in pediatric long-term care, inpatient rehabilitation, care coordination, quality improvement, and family-centered care. As Acting Chief Medical Officer, she is a member of the Hospital’s senior leadership team and provides clinical leadership across the organization.
Dr. Araujo has a longstanding connection to Blythedale, previously serving as a hospitalist from 2011 to 2023 and caring for children in both the Hospital’s acute inpatient care units and long-term care pavilion. Her experience also includes more than a decade as a pediatrician with the Westchester County Department of Social Services, providing comprehensive care to children in family foster care, as well as serving as a staff physician and Medical Director in Training at Richmond Community Services.
She completed her pediatric residency at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, where she subsequently served as Chief Resident. Dr. Araujo earned her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and her bachelor’s degree in anthropology from New York University. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and is fluent in Spanish.
