Jill Wegener, M.S.N., R.N., C.C.R.N., is Chief Nursing Officer at Blythedale Children’s Hospital, a position she has held since 2013. She has more than 30 years of experience in pediatric and neonatal critical care nursing. Ms. Wegener has cared for a broad range of patients in the pediatric intensive care unit, department of pediatrics, air/land transport and home care settings. Her nursing experience has encompassed roles in education, quality and nursing leadership.
During her tenure at Blythedale, Ms. Wegener has invested in the development of the nursing staff’s clinical competencies and expertise to care for the increasingly medically complex cases at the Hospital (i.e. peritoneal Dialysis; Pulmonary Hypertension management –SQ Remodulin infusions; Bubble CPAP and LVAD care/management). In addition, she has overseen the development of a state-of-the-art Simulation Lab and a multi-disciplinary team of clinical experts leading staff through simulated emergency scenarios to enhance staff recognition and response to emergency situations in the clinical setting.
Ms. Wegener obtained an RN Diploma from Albany Medical Center School of Nursing, a BSN from SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome and an MSN in Health Administration from Long Island University and maintains her Pediatric Critical Care Nurse certification.
Ms. Wegener is Past President of the Greater New York Organization of Nurse Executives and Leaders. She is an active member of the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of New York State (HPCANYS) and co-chairs the HPCANYS Children’s Advisory Board. She has over 20 years of experience presenting and lecturing on the pediatric and pediatric critical care nursing-related topics.
