Giving Tuesday

No family ever thinks they will be in the position of caring for a child with complex medical needs. It can be a scary and overwhelming process that requires so many resources, big and small.

This year, on Giving Tuesday, we will be raising money for children’s Adaptive Clothing and Protective Items. This includes functional, sensory-friendly and easier-to-access clothing designed to fit the needs of medically complex babies and kids.

These items help address the unique needs of our patients while also allowing them to express their personal style. The clothes are fun and functional and allow children and parents alike to feel empowered.

This effort is part of Blythedale's Parent and Family Education Program (PFE). PFE offers tailored education and training to ensure that families feel comfortable and well-prepared to take their child home. Parents and caregivers develop clinical skills to help manage their child’s condition; they are educated on how to organize doctor and therapeutic appointments and medication management; and receive guidance and recommendations on how to arrange their home and child’s room to facilitate their child’s care.

In addition to managing their child's complicated medical condition, more than 75% of Blythedale's families are reliant on Medicaid and face significant financial challenges. Purchasing adaptive clothing and protective items is often beyond their economic resources.

Blythedale invites you to help ensure that all our families have access to these important resources. Your gift of $50 will help underwrite the cost of items like Adaptive Clothing, BILLY Footwear, G-Tube Protective Belts, and Central Line Vests. Your generosity will give support and peace of mind to our families as they continue their healing process at home.
