A baby plays on the floor of his hospital room with his mom and dad

When a child requires weeks or months of specialized hospital care, being together matters. At Blythedale Children's Hospital, the average patient stay is 60–70 days, yet many families struggle to afford lodging, meals, and other basic expenses while remaining close to their child.

The Caregiver Cottage will provide families with a welcoming home away from home—allowing them to stay just steps from their child's bedside at little or no cost.

Currently under renovation, the Caregiver Cottage will feature:

  • Six private overnight bedrooms
  • Shared kitchen and dining spaces
  • Comfortable areas to rest, work, and connect
  • Caregiver support programming and on-site assistance

By removing the financial burden of extended stays, the Caregiver Cottage will help families focus on what matters most: supporting their child's recovery.

Your Support Makes It Possible

Insurance and Medicaid do not cover programs like the Caregiver Cottage. This vital resource exists entirely because of philanthropy. With your help, we can open the doors and ensure families never have to choose between being present for their child and affording a place to stay.
