Blythedale welcomes patients from the tri-state area and across the country when children are in need of our level of expertise. We also provide ongoing medical care and therapy services to children from other countries that have come to the United States for specialty treatment or surgeries at an academic medical center and are in need of continued care. Our Global Patient Coordinator works closely with the international team at the referring hospital to arrange for the family to tour and better understand the services available at Blythedale. There is ongoing communication with both the referring international team and the embassy or Health Affairs office that supports the child and family to ensure seamless transitions to and from the referring hospital, the community if appropriate, or the child’s home country when treatment is completed.
Blythedale offers translation services - including video translation options - in any language, 24 hours a day. The Hospital's Global Patient Coordinator and the child’s social worker, along with a staff sensitive to the unique needs of this population, help meet any specific dietary, cultural, or spiritual needs. A parent or other adult caretaker is welcome to stay at the child’s bedside throughout the admission.
