Referral Information
Because of the complex nature of their conditions, patients admitted to Blythedale require intense care and services. They usually come to us from an acute care hospital once they are medically stable.
Referrals are reviewed individually to determine a child is an appropriate candidate for admission. Referrals must include a medical and psychosocial summary and insurance information. Criteria vary with the prospective medical programs. Medically complex patients must be stable and rehabilitation patients must have a potential for functional improvement. Further, patients dependent on complex medical technology, such as ventilators, must have a caregiver committed to undergoing training in the use and care of this equipment.
