Chief Nursing Officer

Chief Nursing Officer: Linda Hurwitz, MS, RN, CNAA

Linda Hurwitz, Blythedale’s Chief Nursing Officer, is a nurse executive with more than 30 years experience in pediatric nursing programs and patient care delivery systems.

Linda earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Pediatric Nursing from the University of Wisconsin. In addition, Linda is a Johnson & Johnson-Wharton Fellow, completing the Management for Nurse Executives Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, in 1996.

Linda began her career at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital as a staff nurse, a clinical nurse specialist, and subsequently Director of Nursing Practice. While there she held joint appointments with the University of Wisconsin teaching pediatric nursing practice.

Linda was very active in the American Diabetes Association, assuming progressive responsibilities from President of her state affiliate to Vice President Health Professional for the national Association. In 1980 she was honored as “Nurse of the Year” by the National Foundation of the March of Dimes.

In 1984, Linda moved to New York to accept the appointment of Vice President of Nursing for Babies Hospital and Sloan Hospital for Women at the Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. She was appointed Acting Chief Nursing Officer there in 1990.

Linda went on to serve as a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University within the Nursing Graduate Program, where she continues to teach today.

Prior to coming to Blythedale in January of 2005, Linda most recently served as the Program Director for Women’s and Children’s Services at Greenwich Hospital where she developed and implemented new programs in perinatal medicine, adolescent medicine, improved acute care coverage for inpatient pediatrics  and upgraded pediatric nursing practice. She continues to mentor graduate students at NYU, and has been published on a variety of subjects.
