Blythedale Children's Hospital Family Resources: What to Bring

What to Bring

  • You will notice that children do not wear hospital gowns at Blythedale. Children feel more comfortable in their own clothes and it gives them a positive sense of self esteem. We ask parents to please bring to the Hospital one week’s worth of clothing, including socks and pajamas, for your child. Please put your child’s name on everything you bring in with an indelible laundry marker.
  • One or two stuffed animals can be helpful to cuddle. You may bring them in for your child. Any more than that clutter the crib or bed and harbor potentially harmful germs.
  • Photos of family or friends to help keep your child connected to home. These photos can be posted at bedside.
  • It is very important that we have all the information necessary to care for your child. Please bring in your child’s immunization record, social security number, birth certificate, and insurance card.

What not to bring…

  • Please keep your valuables, including jewelry, dvd players, TVs, etc. at home. We can not be responsible for the loss of any valuables.
  • Your child’s medications should also be left at home. We will provide him or her with everything they need.
