Blythedale Children's Hospital Family Resources: Patient and Family Guide

Patient and Family Guide

Families often arrive at Blythedale at the most uncertain time in their lives. Through medically sophisticated and intensely child-centered care, we prepare children to lead the most independent lives possible, and train parents to be confident caregivers of their children. Families leave Blythedale ready to become part of their community again.

At Blythedale Children’s Hospital, we encourage family members to become active participants in the day-to-day care of and discharge planning for their children. We encourage families to be together as often as possible during an inpatient stay by encouraging visitation. There is an on-site parent housing program. In addition, some  transportation assistance is available to facilitate visitation and continued bonding. Perhaps most importantly, we teach parents to advocate for their children, so they can continue to help them reach their maximum potential.
