A talented troupe of teen dancers from Byram Hills High School in Armonk, along with their coach, choreographers, parents and friends, held a Dance Expo in January as a fundraiser for Blythedale Children’s Hospital. Dancing for Dollars… Dancing for Dreams, held on January 17th at the High School, featured eight dance studios and five high schools, and raised $12,471 for Blythedale Children’s Hospital.
According to Blythedale Director of Community Relations Lena Cavanna, the group set a shining example of volunteerism and philanthropy for other young people. "Not only did they raise a great deal of money and awareness for Blythedale Children's Hospital, but they also inspired countless others by showing them that you truly can touch another person's life and make a significant difference. Their dedication to this project has been incredibly inspiring. We are so honored to be the recipient of their generosity."
Among the performers were dance teams from Brewster, Harrison, Mahopac, New Rochelle and Clarkstown High Schools, as well as the following dance studios: Edge of Dance, Breaking Ground, The Pulse, Penny Lane, The Dance Faktory, The Dance Shop 2, Darcy Academy of Dance, and Academy of Dance Arts.
The Byram Hills Varsity Dance Team paid a visit to Blythedale Children’s Hospital last month, both to present their generous donation and to perform for the Hospital’s patients and family members.
