Crain's Health Pulse --

Blythedale Children’s in Valhalla, N.Y., opened its $15 million Day Hospital and Early Childhood Center, the final stage of a 10-year rebuilding plan. The 8,000-square-foot Day Hospital features exam rooms, treatment areas, feeding therapy rooms, treatment bays, and an audiology booth that can accommodate children in wheelchairs and stretchers. Blythedale opened a $65.3 million inpatient building in 2011. More than half of the hospital’s patients are admitted directly from neonatal intensive care units or pediatric intensive care units, and the average length of stay for all patients is 36 days. Blythedale is also the only New York hospital with an on-site public school district, serving pre-K through grade 12.
