Get Involved at Blythedale Children's Hospital: Our Volunteer Program

Our Volunteer Program

We offer a wide array of volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. The Hospital currently has more than 100 active volunteers working hands-on with children, and in various departments.

Many volunteers enjoy participating in our Hug ‘n Hold program, providing prematurely born babies with the comfort gained by rocking together in a chair. We also place many volunteers in our Blythedale School, where they help by providing additional assistance in the classroom. Opportunities to volunteer with our children on a weekly basis also exist in the Therapeutic Recreation, Early Childhood Center, Therapy and Nursing Departments. Assistance with fundraising, special events, and in our Hospital offices is also greatly appreciated.

Volunteer applicant's interests, skills and time are matched to our Hospital and School needs. We look for a commitment of at least 40 hours of service over six months. While there are limited possibilities for volunteers under 18 years of age, we make every effort to place 16-18 year-olds as space permits. Younger volunteers may request a Kids for Kids project idea list.
