About Blythedale

Facility

Blythedale Children’s Hospital is located at 95 Bradhurst Avenue, Valhalla, New York 10595.

All of Blythedale’s services and facilities are located in one convenient location in central Westchester County. The Hospital is convenient to major highways, public transportation hubs and we offer free parking on-site.

Blythedale opened a new, 56,000 square-foot inpatient hospital in December 2011. The new inpatient facility accommodates 86 patients in single or double rooms and includes a 46-bed Infant & Todder and Post Neonatal/Post-Pediatric Intensive Care Unit  for medically fragile patients, many of who require weaning from mechanical ventilation. A 30-bed Pediatric & Adolescent Unit features a Multi-Purpose Room and Teen Lounge, where children and teens may enjoy recreational time outside of school and their therapies. The 10-bed Traumatic Brain Injury Unit  is equipped with private, light-and sound-controlled rooms, as well as dedicated space for occupational, physical and speech therapy right on the unit. The new inpatient hospital building also features positive pressure isolation rooms , including adjoining anterooms with special ventilation for increased protection against infection for patients with compromised immune systems.

A new Family Resource Center addresses the daily needs of our patients’ families with a kitchen, dining area, playroom, meditation room, library and wireless Internet access for parents.

Blythedale’s facilities have many special features to help provide the best care for children with complex medical needs. With the largest hospital-based pediatric therapy department in New York State, our Therapy Village  is a nearly 5,000 square-foot center for patients’ physical and occupational therapy sessions. The bright and spacious area includes large mats, physio-balls of all sizes, toys and other pieces of therapeutic equipment in a charming and whimsical setting, with smaller rooms for children to complete sessions in a low-stimulation environment. Blythedale also has a pool for physical therapy on site. Blythedale also houses a Robotic Therapy Research  lab on-site. In collaboration with MIT, we are studying the efficacy of robot-aided therapy in children with spasticity, including children with cerebral palsy and traumatic brain injury.

These are just a few of the features that help Blythedale offer the finest in medical and rehabilitative care to children with complex medical needs.
